Flood restoration. Pavement repair and patching near the intersection of Brays Creek Road and Byrrill Creek Road. Commencing in May, weather permitting. Works hours 8am to 4pm. Traffic controllers operating. Expect minor delays.

Flood restoration work has commenced on a slip site on Byrrill Creek Road.
Byrrill Creek Road and bridge design has progressed well with the project recently approved for funding by TfNSW.
Flood restoration work has commenced on Byrrill Creek Road near the Mebbin Forest Road intersection. Other detailed design for the major slip site on the road has been finalised, and Transport for NSW (TfNSW) have recently approved funding for the project. The works have been tendered and currently being awarded. Construction start date is expected to be 25 August this year. Works are expected to take approximately 3 months, and closures of the road are expected between 9 am and 3 pm.
Byrrill Creek Road and bridge design has progressed well with the project recently approved for funding by TfNSW. Planning is underway to place a temporary seal on the gravel approaches in coming weeks. Bridge will commence once the major slip work on Byrrill Creek Road is completed.
As part of our commitment to provide a safe and connected local road network, we will soon start road rehabilitation works along Tweed Coast Road, between Banksia Avenue and the northern end of Cypress Crescent, Cabarita. Under our Road Rehabilitation Program, we will be replacing existing pavement as it has reached the end of its service life from 1 June with work expected to take 2 weeks.
At this stage, night works will be Sunday to Thursday, from 6 pm to 5 am, weather permitting.
What to expect:
- The affected section of Tweed Coast Road will be closed one lane at a time during work hours. Traffic approaching the closed lane will be detoured through Hastings Road.
- Changed traffic conditions with traffic controllers guiding traffic flow during work hours.
- Expect delays of up to 5 minutes.
- Reduce on-street parking during work hours.
- Limited access to some properties and driveways within the work zone during work hours. Please ask the traffic controller for help if you need access.
- Pedestrians can use footpaths on site, unless directed otherwise.
Please alternative routes where possible or allow additional time for your journey.
Flood restoration. Patch and repair of approach to Rous River bridge. Commencing in May. Traffic controllers operating. Work hours 8am to 4pm. Expect minor delays.
Flood restoration. Road patching. Commencing 10 February 2025, between Chilcotts Road and North Arm Road until 14 February. Work hours between 8am and 4pm. Traffic controllers operating. Expect minor delays.

To continue to provide the Tweed with safe, sustainable and affordable wastewater services, we will be upgrading a sewer pump station at the north end of Harwood Street in Murwillumbah, near Willward Park, next to Brothers Leagues Club.
Preliminary works are expected to begin in May/June 2025, followed by construction, which will take about 8 weeks, weather permitting.
Works will take place Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm. Some work may also be needed on Saturdays, from 7 am to 1 pm.
What to expect:
- Limited access to some properties and driveways within the work zone during work hours. Traffic controllers will be available to assist with access.
- Restricted public access to areas within Harwood Street Reserve near the pump station.
- Pedestrian detours or restrictions. No pedestrian access through the work site. Pedestrian movement may be directed or restricted.
- Continued access to carpark.
Please use alternative routes where possible.
As part of our Road Rehabilitation Program, Norths Lane in Nunderi, between Garden Avenue and Seven Oaks Road will be temporarily closed. We will be making changes to the current road pavement, as it has reached the end of its service life.
What to expect:
- Work hours will be Monday to Friday 7 am to 5 pm, and possibly Saturday 7 am to 1 pm.
- Temporary road closures during work hours, which may cause delays of up to 15 minutes.
- We have made plans for emergency vehicles to pass through the site.
- Please do not use on-street parking during work hours.
- Limited access to some properties and driveways within the work zone during work hours. Please ask the traffic controller for help if you need access.
Design work for the restoration of a land slips have been completed by Civil Consult and 3 of the 5 projects are currently under tender review.
Council has received funding for the work which is programmed to commence in the later this year.

The site is currently reduced to 40 kmh with a give way sign for the southbound traffic under a work site traffic management plan.
Due to the restricted site distances and nature of Tomewin Drive it is not a suitable location for traffic lights to be installed. Motorists are reminded to adhere to the give way signage on site and reduced 40 kmh speed limits.
To continue to provide the Tweed with safe, sustainable and affordable wastewater services, we will be upgrading a sewer pump station about halfway along Sunshine Avenue in Tweed Heads South.
Preliminary works are expected to begin in May/June 2025, followed by construction, which will take about 3 weeks between term 2 and term 3 school holidays, weather permitting.
Works will take place Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 6 pm. Some work may also be needed on Saturdays, from 7 am to 1 pm.
What to expect:
- Temporary lane closures for the duration of the works, which may cause delays of up to 5 minutes in peak traffic periods.
- Limited access to some properties and driveways within the work zone during work hours. Please ask the traffic controller for help if you need access.
- Please do not use on-street parking during work hours within or near the work zone.
- Changed traffic conditions with traffic controllers guiding traffic flow during work hours.
- No pedestrian access through the work site. Pedestrian movement may be directed or restricted.

As part of our commitment to provide a safe and connected local road network, we will soon begin repairs on the Oyster Bay Track.
This work will include, repairing the existing walkway, adding new gravel, laying recycled asphalt and clearing mud along some sections the walkway.
What to expect:
- Works will commence early June 2025 for about one week, weather permitting
- The track will be temporarily closed for the duration of the works
- Work hours will be Monday to Friday, from 7 am to 5pm
- No pedestrian access through the work site.
