Celebrate local this Christmas with Tweed’s Festive Shopfronts
This Christmas, Tweed Shire Council, local business chambers and the Tweed Valley Weekly are inviting local businesses to celebrate the festive season with creativity and community spirit.
The Tweed 2025 Festive Shopfronts campaign encourages business to get festive and residents to shop close to home.
By decorating shopfronts, businesses help bring festive cheer and vibrancy to our business precincts and streets and best of all will have the chance to win one of three business prize packs valued at $1,000.
All participating stores will be featured on the Tweed Festive Shopfronts map, making it easier for locals to discover and support businesses across the region in 3 easy steps:
Entries open 1 December
- decorate your shopfront
- take a photo of your festive display
- submit your entry.

Wildlife friendly festive lighting
Tips to support local wildlife
- Don’t leave lights on all-night. Instead, have lights on only for a few hours after dark. If possible, use a timer.
- Avoid having lights on during dusk or dawn as this is when animals such as birds are most active.
- Use warm coloured and low intensity lights instead of bright white or blue lights, as these are less harmful to wildlife.
- Avoid lighting up trees and shrubs where nocturnal animals may reside. Keep these areas as dark as possible.
- When using spotlights, keep them angled downward and focused only where you need them. Ensure lights aren't pointed into the sky or at nearby trees, shrubs or bushland.
