Burial plots Costs Burial services FAQs
If you choose a burial
You will need to:
- engage a funeral director who will make the burial and funeral service arrangements on your behalf
- the funeral director will also take the deceased into their care while the family decide on a burial date, travel and burial arrangements.
Burial with a reserved or prepaid burial plot
If you have a prepaid or a reserved interment at a Tweed Shire Council cemetery, give this information to your funeral director.
The funeral director will contact Council’s cemeteries team to:
- confirm the reservation
- book a burial date in consultation with you and the cemetery.
Don’t have a reserved or prepaid burial plot?
The steps below will help you navigate what to do if you don’t have a reserved plot.
- Tell your funeral director, they will either send you to our cemetery or arrange a time for the family to come to the cemetery and choose a burial plot.
- You will need to decide on a single, dual or triple plot.
- Pricing options, plaque options and inclusions will be discussed with you.
- All prices include provision for a standard plaque and base, GST and NSW Govt levies.
- When you have chosen an interment plot, we will give the plot detail to your funeral director and draft a perpetual interment contract for the executor to sign.
The funeral director will provide the cemetery with:
- a copy of the deceased’s Will to verify the executor – if there is no Will, a statutory declaration from the person responsible for the burial will be required
- a burial application form signed by the executor and the funeral director
- a copy of the cause of death certificate.
Costs and payment
Cemetery staff will invoice your funeral director for the cost of the interment plot, the chapel and kitchen hire (if required).
Your funeral director’s fees will be additional to the fee quoted by Council.
See detailed prices on our fees and charges page.
