These plaques are selected for their durability and strength, being able to hold up against most weather conditions, making them ideal for outdoor use. Depending on the location, weather conditions and how often these plaques are cleaned, they will last approximately 10 years before requiring refurbishment. Refurbishment of cast bronze plaques is more affordable than direct inscriptions.

Cleaning: Use warm soapy water and soft cloth or the original Mr Sheen. Avoid anything harsh or corrosive.

Flat, lawn level granite with a direct inscription will last approximately 3 years and upright memorials and headstones will last approximately 5 years.

This is dependent on the location and weather conditions. The location of the memorial in the cemetery impacts how long the memorial will last and will eventually erode after time.

All granite for lawn memorials, headstones and plinths for the General Cemeteries require a 12-week lead time to order the granite.  When the granite arrives, the stonemason will inscribe the granite and arrange for installation. Granite delivery times may take longer due to shipping and customs.

Cleaning: Wash down with fresh water, then clean with soapy water (normal dishwashing detergent) using a soft bristle brush (or paint brush) or sponge. Wash again with clean water.  No harsh chemicals or abrasives should be used.

A vitreous enamel plaque is made by fusing powdered glass onto a metal plate in a high temperature kiln, creating a hard, glass like surface.

These plaques were once the standard option, however, aren’t as common these days. Second inscriptions are still available on these plaques however, new vitreous enamel plaques are not available.

Second inscriptions and refurbishments of vitreous enamel plaques can take up to 6 months. A minimum number of these plaques are required for this process.

Each cemetery and burial location has set standards for the plaque and base that will be provided. These standard memorials are included in the cost of the ash or burial interment. Further information about costs can be found on the fees and charges page.

Grave slabs (large granite or concrete slab with gutters that cover the entire grave) and other non-standard monuments are priced on application. All lawn memorials, plinths, headstones and grave slabs will take approximately 6 months or longer from the order date to being installed.

Various upgrades for cast bronze plaques include:

• badges – service badges (approval from Australian war graves or relevant body is required for use)
• sculptures.

Lawn vases can be purchased directly from a supplier of your choice providing the vase meets the cemetery standard requirements. It is advisable to have the CEM Code etched on the bottom of the vase. This is the burial/ash interment site address.

Although vases may have name/s and CEM Code etched on them does not prevent others from picking the vases and moving them to another site and using them.
