Tweed Seniors Festival to include FABulous exhibition!
23 January 2023
Fun Activities for Banora Seniors (FABS) will hold a huge art and craft exhibition with pieces made by attendees from a range of FABS art and craft groups. The exhibition is part of Tweed Seniors Festival bumper line-up of events running from 1 – 12 February.
The exhibition is made up of works from a range of FABS groups such as Needlework, Crochet and Card n Chat - a popular group that make greeting cards in a fun, social environment. Seniors from each group have submitted exciting works that attendees can view over two time slots during the festival program.
The grand opening of this event will be held Friday 10 February from 6 – 9 pm at Banora Point Community Centre. Cheese and wine will be available to pair with the wonderful artistic creations on view.
On Saturday 11 February the event will also be open from 9 am – 1 pm with tea and coffee available for all attendees.
Exhibition organiser and FABS Art group attendee, Vickie Mussio said the crafters and artists with works on show are excited about having their pieces displayed.
“This show is about bringing people together to see the wonderful things we make. I’m also passionate about letting other seniors in the community know about FABS and the fabulous community centre we have here” she said.
Vickie herself likes to experiment with mediums; acrylic, oils, you name it. She’s currently enjoying creating her pieces on board. Her focus, she says, is usually pet portraits.
“I hope that by coming to the event, people who haven’t been here before, or attended a FABS group, realise there’s so many opportunities here to meet new people”
To attend, you do not need a ticket – you can just turn up and enjoy the works on offer. If you like, you can make a gold coin donation.
