Picture2.jpg

Council is upgrading the car park to make it more flood-resilient and safer for everyone using the hockey and sports facilities. The works include a better surface, improved layout and drainage, plus native trees to boost shade, comfort, and the overall look of the area.

Project schedule

  • Planning: Mid 2024
  • Construction: 21 July 2025 to late November 2025, weather permitting

What’s involved

  • Reconstruction of the car park
  • Revised parking layout, including 2 accessible parking spaces
  • Construction of a new pick-up and drop-off zone at the clubhouse entrance
  • Upgraded entrance to the car park from Brisbane Street
  • Minor drainage works to reduce water pooling and improve stormwater management
  • Tree planting, with concrete edging and mulch around existing trees
  • Demolition of existing basketball courts, which will be replaced with new turf

Why it’s happening

Severe weather and flooding in 2022 caused substantial damage to the internal access road and carpark, severely damaging the road surface and causing road subsidence.
