beach-wheelchair-bookings.jpg A FreeWheeler is a wheelchair with soft balloon tyres that rolls easily over sand and even into low waves.

Council has 4 beach wheel chairs available for use at the following locations:

  • Fingal Head Beach
  • Cabarita Beach
  • Tweed Heads
  • Pottsville

The Tweed Heads chair may be transported for use at any Tweed Coast beach.

The Fingal Head and Cabarita chairs must be used in a specific area (they must not be removed from that area or transported elsewhere).

Book a beach wheel chair

To pre-book a FreeWheeler call Community Services on 07 5569 3110 or email communityservices@tweed.nsw.gov.au.

Chairs are free to hire. They can be borrowed by a support person for use by persons aged 5 and over with a disability.

The hirer is responsible for all transportation arrangements and payment of the refundable deposit for the chair. At the time of hire, the user / family member / care giver must read and agree to the terms of use, sign a lease agreement and provide identification. The terms of use are guidelines to ensure the person using the chair is kept safe at all times.
