Tweed Shire Council proudly introduces the inaugural Tweed October Business Month, an initiative designed to empower, connect and celebrate the thriving Tweed business community. This new and dynamic program – part of the Succeed in the Tweed initiative – is a rallying cry to entrepreneurs, innovators and professionals across the region.

Coinciding with NSW Small Business Month, October Business Month is a testament to the talent, resilience and vibrancy that define the Tweed's business landscape.

Mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry, a staunch supporter of the Tweed's business community, shared her enthusiasm for the upcoming event.

"October Business Month is a testament to the incredible journey of our local businesses. It's a time to celebrate our achievements, nurture our skills and embrace the boundless opportunities ahead,” Cr Cherry said.

“The timing is perfect, following hot on the heels of the Tweed’s incredible success at the Northern Rivers 2023 Business Awards hosted by Business NSW on Saturday 16 September, where the Tweed was represented by 24 finalists, including five* who went on to win in their categories.

“I was honoured to accompany the Tweed businesses to the awards and to witness the outstanding work our businesses are being acknowledged for.

“By working together, we can forge a brighter, more prosperous future for the Tweed Shire and ensure we continue to live in a community that is thriving.”

The month-long extravaganza promises a calendar filled with events tailored to cater to the Tweed's diverse business community. From business breakfasts to networking nights, online seminars to practical workshops, there's something for everyone. The program aims to provide invaluable opportunities for skill development, networking, knowledge sharing and celebrating business triumphs in Tweed.

The Tweed Sustainability Awards also coincide with October Business Month. These awards celebrate champions in our community, including businesses, who are going above and beyond for sustainability in the Tweed. These winners will be announced at a showcase event on Wednesday 11 October 2023 in the middle of our October Business Month celebrations.

“At the heart of this initiative lies our commitment to spotlighting the talent, resilience and vibrancy of the Tweed's business landscape,” Cr Cherry said.

“Our mission is clear: to empower the Tweed's entrepreneurs, innovators and professionals. Through a curated series of events and online content, we aim to foster connections, cultivate skills and knowledge and champion the remarkable successes of the Tweed's business ecosystem.”

Alongside online webinars hosted by Council on topics such as Development Applications (DAs) and food service safety, October Business Month is welcoming many partners and events as part of the program. Expect to see exciting opportunities from partners such as Gold Coast Airport to TAFE NSW and from Regional Development Australia to independent gurus such as Tim Jack Adams.
