Tweed Shire Council offers a range of payment options for customers including online and smartphone options to save you time. These payment options include rates, water and debtors notices. Payment for all lodgements and animal registration fees are still required in person, at the time of lodgement.
Tweed Shire Council's Biller Code is 131 284 and your corresponding reference number is on the front of your notice. Please contact your bank or financial institution to make this payment from your cheque, debit or transaction account. This service is not available from credit card accounts.
Internet Payment Facility (Post BillPay):
You can pay your rate, water or debtor’s account online at the Australia Post website www.postbillpay.com.au to pay with either Visa, MasterCard or Visa Debit Card. A surcharge (merchant fee) of 0.7% will apply to all credit card payments.
Council's Postbillpay code is 0575 and the corresponding reference number is on the front of your notice.
This method of payment allows Tweed Shire Council to debit your nominated Australian bank, credit union, building society account weekly, fortnightly, monthly by installment or annually at no cost to you. Direct Debit is not available from credit card accounts. It is imperative that you check with your Financial Institution that the account nominated is able to be accessed, as some types of accounts can not be used for Direct Debiting. When the rate payment is due either by weekly, fortnightly, monthly, quarterly or yearly arrangements, Council will automatically debit your account with the amount owing. Notification of the amount due will still be issued to you by Council. In order to use the Direct Debit service please complete the Direct Debit Request (43kB PDF). Strict control over the system is maintained by your bank and only your instructions can be acted upon. If you wish to amend or cancel your instructions please contact Council on (02) 6670 2400 or 1300 292 872.
Australia Post now offers a smartphone app that lets you scan and pay bills with your iPhone, iPad or Android device. Download the free Australia Post app from the App Store or Google Play. Once you have installed the app, select 'Pay your bill' and scan the barcode located at the bottom of your bill and then enter your payment details.
Payment by Phone:
By phone using Visa, MasterCard or Visa Debit Card only (no other cards will be accepted) by calling 13 18 16 using Post BillPay Code 0575 and the corresponding reference number on the front of your notice. Please note that a surcharge (merchant fee) of 0.7% will apply for all credit card payments. Any queries in relation to matters not relating to payments should be directed to Tweed Shire Council.
Payment in Person (Council offices or Australia Post):
Payments can be made in person at Council offices in Tweed Heads or Murwillumbah (see Customer Service for office locations, maps and directions) or at any Australia Post. Australia Post does not accept credit card payments in person (only cash, cheque or EFTPOS (debit card only from a savings or cheque account). Council offices accept all payment types by cash, cheque, money order or EFTPOS (debit or credit card). Council only accepts Mastercard or Visa, please note that a surcharge (merchant fee) of 0.7% will apply for all credit card payments.
Payment by Mail:
Please make all cheques and money orders payable to Tweed Shire Council, crossed 'not negotiable'. Do not send cash through the mail. If a receipt is required, please tick the option on the front of your notice and post to Tweed Shire Council, PO Box 816 Murwillumbah NSW 2484. Council is not responsible for any delay or loss of receipt of payments through the mailing system.
