In 2011 the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) undertook a nationwide census. The census provides a snapshot of Australia's people and their housing. This information is used to determine services and facilities you and your community need. Below are several useful snapshots to the 2011 Census.

id Consulting Tweed Shire Profiles

The Tweed Shire Profile is a public tool which provides a snapshot of the Tweed’s community and economy as well as forecasting the future growth of the area. These profiles have been prepared by id consulting and are hosted on their website. The profile is presented in four separate components:

The id Tweed Briefing Paper (1.86mB PDF) summarises the demographic trends including the latest updates to Tweed's population forecasts.

Community Profile

Tweed Shire Community Profile enables you to analyse the population characteristics of your community, understand how they have changed over time and how they compare to other areas.

The profile presents data from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) Census of Population and Housing in 2006, 2001, 1996 and 1991 for the local government area, and for smaller areas within it (e.g. suburbs). This data is presented in easy to use tables, charts and commentary covering a wide range of Census questions.

The profile answers the majority of frequently asked socio-demographic questions and assists Council, the general public, students, community groups, organisations, business and investors to become more informed about the community.

Community Atlas

Tweed Shire Community Atlas presents key socio-demographic characteristics for the area as interactive maps. Based on data from the 2006 Census of Population and Housing (Australian Bureau of Statistics), each map is prepared using Census Collector Districts providing the finest level of detail to help identify spatial patterns and trends in the area.

Economic Profile

Tweed Shire Economic Profile draws on a variety of economic data sources to profile the characteristics of the local economy, how it compares to other areas and how it is changing. It enables users to accurately describe the economy, explore linkages across the economy and promote the region.

The economic profile answers the majority of frequently asked economic questions and assists Council, the general public, students, community groups, organisations, business and investors to become more informed about the local economy.

Community Forecast

Disclaimer: Please be advised that the following population projections are estimations only and do not concede to be a precise prediction. These projections are based on the most relevant and current information that is available at the time of preparation. The purpose of these projections is to provide Council with a tool to assist in the preparation of policy development. Its release to the community is subject to the acknowledgement that its accuracy is subject to numerous external factors such as macroeconomic influences, market fluctuations, State policy changes, infrastructure development and changes in demographic trends. These projections are subject to periodic reviews and do not represent Council policy targets.
Tweed Population Forecast Variations and Methodoligies (163kB PDF)

Tweed Shire population forecasts outline the drivers of population change and forecasts how population, age structure and household types will change across the LGA over the period 2006 to 2031.

This data is presented in easy to use tables, charts and commentary and is designed to inform community groups, Council, investors, business, students and the general public.

Tweed Demographic Report - Background Breifing Report

As part of the Tweed Kenyan Mentoring Program Council has put on a Placement Position Officer, Diana Nyachieo for six months during the first half of 2015.

As one her tasks she has prepared a Background Briefing Report on the demographics and economic profiles of the Tweed.

This briefing paper highlights the comparative population and age structure that is present in the Tweed and presents some generalised recommendations.

This paper was endorsed at Corporate Management Team meeting where it was agreed that the report would be used is assisting Council's 2015 budget preparations and also would be distributed through Council's intranet and internet site.
