Emergency Services Expo returns to showcase frontline heroes   

Experience the action of Tweed’s emergency services at a free, family-friendly event at Jack Evans Boat Harbour on Saturday 6 September, from 10 am to 3 pm. 

Originally planned for 31 May, the event was postponed due to severe weather which brought heavy rainfall to the region but it's now back better than ever!

Mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry explained that the event offers residents a valuable opportunity to meet local emergency responders and see how partner agencies work together to prepare for, respond to, and recover from disasters. 

“Watching our frontline heroes in action is a great way to understand their vital role,” Cr Cherry said.  

“Learning how we can all contribute to disaster preparedness will make the Tweed a safer, more resilient community.”  

“This is particularly important following the devastating 2022 floods and, more recently, Ex-Tropical Cyclone Alfred.” 

The event’s (new) scheduling has been planned to coincide with the start of the local bushfire season which has been brought forward from 1 October to 1 September. This  reflects the increased fire risk driven by changing climate conditions.

Attendees will have the chance to: 

• Meet their local heroes – including SES, Police, Ambulance, Firefighters, Marine Rescue, Surf Lifesaving, Red Cross and more. 

• Watch live emergency demonstrations – see how teams respond in crisis situations. 

• Explore emergency vehicles and equipment – get up close to fire trucks, rescue boats, all-terrain vehicles and high-tech response tools. 

• Learn how to be disaster-ready – discover practical steps to improve personal and community resilience.
