Are you a suitably qualified resident who is passionate about making a difference in the Tweed community? Express your interest in joining one of Council's advisory committees.

Residents are invited to play a vital role in shaping the future of Tweed by joining one of Council’s Advisory Committees for the upcoming term.

Expressions of Interest are now open for positions on four advisory committees, each offering residents the opportunity to provide valuable advice and recommendations to Council.

Suitably experienced community members are called for and appointed every 4 years, for the term of Council.

Mayor of Tweed Shire Chris Cherry emphasised the importance of these committees in Council’s decision-making process.

“Councillors take the advice and recommendations from our Advisory Committees very seriously,” she said.

“Committee members provide knowledge, skills and experience to help us make informed decisions that best serve the interests of the Tweed community.

Cr Cherry thanked the members who dedicated their time and expertise to serving on Council’s Advisory Committees over the last term.

“We greatly appreciate the contributions of past committee members and now invite members to join us in shaping the community’s future.”

Advisory Committees open for expressions of interest include:

Equal Access Advisory Committee: provides advice and recommendations on community and organisational perspectives relating to access and inclusion across a range of Council projects.

Floodplain Management Advisory Committee: advises Council on the development and implementation of the NSW floodplain risk management process across the various catchments within the Tweed Shire.

Tweed Coast Koala Advisory Committee: aims to ensure broad community representation and inter-agency involvement in the implementation of the Tweed Coast Koala Plan of Management (KPOM).

Tweed Coast and Waterways Advisory Committee: provides advice and recommendations on ecological health, coastal hazard risk and recreational use of the Tweed Coast and waterways with a focus on integrated management and promotes cooperation between community, government and industry.

Expressions of interest close on Monday 12 August 2024.
