Jack Evans Boat Harbour southern beach erosion repair

Jack Evans Boat Harbour southern beach.jpg

Jack Evans Boat Harbour is one of the Tweed’s favourite spots to relax, play and enjoy the water. This project will restore and protect the beach in front of Chris Cunningham Park, ensuring it stays safe and sandy for years to come.

Project Schedule

  • Planning: Mid 2025
  • Construction: 3 September 2025 to mid-November 2025, weather permitting

What’s involved

  • Refurbishment of the existing revetment wall
  • Construction of geofabric sandbag groynes
  • Sand nourishment to rebuild beach profile
  • Landscaping and reinstatement of the site

Why it’s happening

Erosion is wearing away the beach in front of Chris Cunningham Park. It’s caused by increased wave energy from the ageing seawall, limited natural beach recovery, windblown sand, and water run-off.

How it’s getting done

Budget: $385,000

Jointly funded by the Australian and NSW Governments.
