Treasure hunt at Tweed JUNKtion (tip shop)

Calling all young treasure hunters!

Tweed JUNKtion Tip Shop has a DIY treasure hunting activity at Stotts Creek Resource Recovery Centre over the summer holidays.

Teach your kids how things can be reused or made into new things.

Print out the treasure hunt list and see if you can find something:

  • really old
  • that would make a good gift
  • you can play with
  • you can read
  • that would be good to plant something in
  • you could take camping
  • you could build with

This activity is a search only, you do not get to keep the items you find.

When: JUNKtion is open on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays 8:30am to 3:00pm, and on Saturdays from 9am to 3pm.

Art Play at Tweed Regional Gallery

During the school holidays you can create your own ‘CLAYONS’ after exploring artist Kenny Pittock’s exhibition Planes, Trains and Bubble’O Bills.

Kenny is a Melbourne-based artist who uses humour and colour to playfully celebrate Australian culture.

A fun exhibition for kids and adults to explore together.

Summer at Tweed Regional Aquatic Centre

Water slide reopens at TRAC Murwillumbah

Our giant slide, 50m pool and kiddies leisure play pool reopen from Monday 21 December 2020.

Bookings are essential

There are 3 x 2 hour sessions available to book each day (sorry, back to back sessions are not available):

  • 10 am - 12 noon
  • 12:15 pm - 2:15 pm
  • 2:30 pm - 4:30 pm

* Spectators must book and pay as well


  • $5.50 per session
  • $2.50 unlimited slide for 2 hours

School holiday swim intensives

Fast track your child’s learning with a block of swimming lessons at a discounted price. Spaces are limited and bookings are essential:

Cost: $72.50 (5 days)


  • Monday 11 – Friday 15 January 2021
  • Monday 18 – Friday 22 January 2021

Time: Several classes between 7.30 and 10.30am, please call to book.


School swimming racing clinics

Kids can prepare for swimming carnivals at one of our racing clinics at TRAC Kingscliff. Spaces are limited and bookings are essential:

Cost: $27.60 or 2 squad passes


  • Saturday 16 January 2021 (breaststroke and butterfly)
  • Saturday 23 January 2021 (backstroke and freestyle)

Time: 8 am - 10 am


  • underwater and over water video analysis
  • starts and turns fine tuning
  • drills to improve strokes and racing tips

Let’s play! museum treasure hunt competition

Are you ready for some adventure?

Take part in a fun treasure hunt around Murwillumbah that the whole family can enjoy.

Learn some local history and test your clue finding skills!

  • Collect your treasure hunt map from the Museum.
  • Follow clues around historical sites in Murwillumbah CBD to find all the answers.
  • Once you have all the answers, put your entry into the draw at the Museum.

There are great prizes up for grabs:

  • family Slide and Dive pass to Tweed Regional Aquatic Centres

Competition details

  • The treasure hunt takes place from 5 to 23 January 2021
    (free to enter).
  • The competition is open to children up to 18 years old.
  • All entries receive a surprise gift to take home.

Summer Reading Club

Escape with a good read over the holidays… and you could win a Samsung tablet!

Visit the library all summer long, and read, read, read. Library staff can suggest some good books, or you could explore different types of reading materials like magazines, comics, poetry books, newspapers and cookbooks.

List 5 books you read during the holidays using the online book log, then enter the prize draw. Get extra entries in the draw by doing the Five for Fun challenges.
