Tip and Resource Recovery

There are many items that can be taken to the tip for FREE recycling and disposal. See the Recycling Free Drop Off (175kB PDF) for a list of these items. Having your load sorted (51kB PDF) prior to arriving at the tip will save you both money and time.

The Tip Shop at Stotts Creek sells quality used, recycled and second hand products which have been salvaged before going to landfill.

You will be amazed at the variety of different products available for a great price.

The Tip Shop is NOT accepting donations from the public at this time. Please consider dropping off resellable items to charity (open hours only) or place on local Facebook buy, sell and swap pages.

• Vehicle weighing service for the purpose of going over The Pits for vehicle registration in NSW. Please refer to Stotts Creek Resource Recovery fees and charges (371kB PDF).
• Green waste is processed into mulch onsite by a private contractor and due to the recent changes in State Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) Legislation, mulch is currently not permitted to be sold from Stotts Creek Resource Recovery Centre. Council is working with the EPA to provide a long term solution, however it is not anticipated that mulch will be available in the near future.

Commercial third party transporting of liquid or solid waste across a public place requires approval from Council using the form. Council issues 12 month approvals, which expire each year on 31 March.

This requirement generally applies to waste transporting companies that transport waste for fee or reward. For further information, please contact Council's friendly Waste Management team on Telephone (02) 6670 2694 or email waste@tweed.nsw.gov.au.

As a result of the expanding population in the Tweed area, increasing pressures are being placed on local resources and infrastructure. In particular, there is increasing demand being placed on waste management services. As such, this is an area that Tweed Shire Council has identified as being of high priority to address. Under the Tweed Local Environmental Plan 2000 (LEP), the land owned by Council is appropriately zoned (5(a) Special Purposes) for the purposes of developing a landfill. Tweed Shire Council is proceeding with investigation and design. This land is earmarked for the future Tweed Botanic Gardens. For further information please click on the Information Sheets Below.
