Commonly required during the sale of property, a Section 603 Certificate identifies if there are any due or payable fees to Council, by way of rates, charges or otherwise in respect of a parcel of land (Lot and DP). Each property number requires a Separate 603 Certificate and they are only valid for the date of issue. Solicitors, real estate agents and members of the public may make an application to Council for a certificate by completed the Conveyancing Form and submitting to Council accompanied by the approved fee.

Water consumption charges will only show on a 603 certificate if there is any outstanding water charges. The applicant will be required to order a Special Water Meter Reading to determine what the owner has consumed since their previous reading. See the Conveyancing Form for additional fees.

Fees and Processing Time

There is a statutory fee of $85.00 payable for each Section 603 certificate. GST is not applicable. The usual processing time for a Section 603 certificate is between 24-48 hours from the date of receipt and payment. The certificate may be ordered through the mail, or over the counter at Council's Offices at Murwillumbah or Tweed Heads.

An additional "Urgency Fee" of $48.00 (GST Inclusive) is available for Section 603 Certificates and processing time is within 24 hours from the date of receipt and payment.
