The Tweed has an active media scene, with an unusually large range of print publications. The border can present problems in terms of getting Council’s message across through broadcast media, as many produce both Gold Coast and North coast editions and not everyone watches the same service, depending on where they live.

Tweed Shire Council produces its own weekly newspaper to keep residents informed - for more information see the Tweed Link.
Tweed Daily News (external link) (two editions - Daily News Community edition distributed free on Wednesdays, paid Daily News publishes on Saturdays)
Gold Coast Bulletin (external link) (paid, six days a week)
Tweed Valley Weekly (external link) (free, published on Thursdays)
Echonetdaily (external link) (online daily)

There are many radio stations which cover the Tweed, although not all will be picked up in all areas. As the Tweed is adjacent to the Gold Coast, residents have the opportunity to listen to Gold Coast radio stations.

ABC Radio - North Coast (external link) - FM 94.5; AM 720
ABC Radio Gold Coast (external link) - FM 91.7
Radio 97 Tweed Coast (external link)
88.00 FM Big Country Radio (external link)

Gold Coast commercial stations include:
102.9 Hot Tomato Radio (external link)
92.5 Gold FM (external link)
90.9 Sea FM (external link)

Community radio stations:
4CRB Radio (external link) - 89.3FM

The television scene in the Tweed is complicated by the proximity to the border, differing time zones in summer and the Tweed’s geography. Many people in the north of the Shire receive Queensland stations because of the line of sight to the nearest TV tower, while those in Murwillumbah , the villages and most of the Tweed Coast receive northern NSW TV. There is no TV station solely based in the Tweed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How can I stop the delivery of Junk Mail?
There are several ways in which you can cease the delivery of unwanted mail, including brochures.
1. Refer to the  Australia Post website for information on Managing your letterbox (external link)
2. Contact the publication directly and request to be removed from their distribution. Local papers use distribution companies and should liaise directly with them to stop receiving the paper.
3.  Place "No Junk Mail", or "Australia Post Mail Only", signs on your post box.
4. If it is in regards to the Tweed Link, see responses on Tweed Link  page. Tweed Link is unaddressed mail and is not Junk Mail.
Are there any community radio stations on the Tweed?
There are two community radio stations in the Tweed area - Big Country FM 82.8 and 4CRB FM 89.5, as well as 4CRB on the southern Gold Coast.
