Jack Evans Boat Harbour Plan of Management

Council is developing a new Plan of Management to guide its future planning and management of Jack Evans Boat Harbour.

What is a Plan of Management?

A Plan of Management is a legal document that provides guidelines as to how public land in the precinct will be utilised and effectively managed.

The Jack Evans Boat Harbour Plan of Management will provide the framework by which Council will enhance, protect and manage the Precinct as a significant and valuable asset which provides significant benefits to the Tweed community and visitors.

Jack Evans Boat Harbour Vision

The Tweed City Centre Plan - Vision document nominates the area "as the recreational and tourism centrepiece for the Tweed City Centre". Whilst the Draft Tweed Open Space Strategy nominates the precinct as a Regional level Facility and has benefited from an $8 million revitalisation project in 2010. As such, the Plan aims to suitably manage community-friendly, active and passive uses o of this public space, catering for all ages and user groups while ensuring that any negative impacts are sufficiently mitigated.

Most of the precinct is Crown Land which is subject to the new Crown Land Management Act 2016. The tenure and management framework under the new legislation is being reviewed as part of this process.

Council aspires to have Jack Evans Boat Harbour as a high quality and accessible facility, reflective of the values and aspirations of the Tweed community. Therefore in preparing the plan Council is undertaking a thorough community engagement process to ensure all views are heard and considered in developing the Plan of Management.

For more information regarding this process go to https://www.yoursaytweed.com.au/JEBH or contact Council's Recreation Planner Kelley Edwards on 02 6670 2400.
