The strategy supports existing events, encourages development and sets the framework for attracting desirable events for strategic benefit.

Events Sponsorship Policy

The Events Sponsorship Policy (337kB PDF) provides a framework for Council to offer financial assistance to event organisers to develop, host and grow festivals and events in the Tweed Shire in accordance with the actions outlined in the Tweed Shire Events Strategy 2016-2020, adopted by Council on 18 February 2016.

The Events Sponsorship Policy is curently being reviewed and we would like to engage with you as early as possible to help us provide the framework for the new 2021-2022 funding round document. Visit the Your Say Tweed website (external link) for more information.

You are invited to reivew the current policy and make a submisison with your ideas, suggestions and thoughts before we draft the new Event Partnership Policy (formerly the Events Sponsorship Policy). What's in a name? Well the differences are explained below:

Sponsorship - is often transactional and is about the provision of either cash or resource support to a certain dollar value from one party to another.

Partnership - is a relationship based approach, not a one-size fits all approach. Council has goals too and it is about exploring and developing the areas of shared interest so both parties achieve their desired outcomes.
