Council operates three Closed Circuit Television (CCTV) systems in public places within the Tweed. The main reason for Council to become involved with these CCTV systems is to increase the level of safety for residents, businesses and tourists in the areas they are located. The CCTV systems are located in the central business district of Kingscliff and Murwillumbah and at the Skate Park at Tweed Heads South. These systems have a proven track record in capturing and recording evidence which law enforcement officers have used to sucessfully make convictions.

Council does not provide footage from its CCTV systems to individuals or organisations other than law enforcements agencies. All incidents or criminal activities must be reported to the Police, who will then request CCTV footage from Council.
