Tweed Shire Council operates a number of facilities as a service to the residents and businesses of the Tweed, including the Murwillumbah Airfield and Tweed Laboratory Centre. For further information, head to Facilities and Services.

Council directly supports local businesses via a Local Preference Procurement. All dealings with Council are underpinned by good governance and transparency in the decision making process.

Council Major Projects - Local Jobs Register

Bridge construction in the Tweed

To assist Tweed residents and businesses, Council has developed an online 'Local Jobs Register' containing information provided by principal contractors undertaking publicly funded construction projects with a value of more than $50 million.

The objectives of the register are to link local residents and business to employment opportunities, and to report to the community the number of locals employed during construction.

Starting from 2020, the register will contain current and historical information on Council projects with a value of more than $50 million. As Council does not regularly undertake such large projects, the register of current projects may be empty. If so, the equivalent state funded projects can be seen at (external link). Alternatively the NSW Government eTendering website which advertises engagement opportunities can be found at (external link) , which allows keyword searches such as “Tweed”, “North Coast” or “Construction” to hone in on opportunities for local jobs.

There are currently no Council projects with a value of more than $50 million. Once any such projects are in progress, the link to the register will be included on this page.
