Nursery

Tweed Shire Council's nursery is located at Lundberg Drive, off Quarry Road, in the Industrial Estate Murwillumbah.

The Nursery staff propagate and grow tens of thousands of plants each year which are planted in the many parks, gardens, revegetation projects and streets throughout the Tweed Shire. Locally collected seed is frequently used.

The Nursery is open to the public from 7.30am to 3.00pm Monday to Friday. A range of Australian native rainforest trees, mostly local species, are for sale. Trees are $4.00 each or Rainforest Kits of five plants for $17.60 are popular.

Staff are able to assist in plant selection.

To purchase plants from the nursery you need to:

1. Pay for the number of plants you want at one of the Council offices (Murwillumbah or Tweed Heads).
2. Present your receipt to the nursery staff.
3. Choose the plants to the value of your receipt.

The Murwillumbah Regional Memorial Swimming Complex and car park upgrade, has been in the planning phase for about four years. Construction should be completed by the end of 2008. The current pool complex dates back to 1938. A concept design and master plan for the redevelopment of the pool and car park was prepared in 2004.

After public display and consultation the Council resolved in March 2005 to proceed to detailed design and documentation of the pool and car park precinct. Although the complex will be closed for the 2007-08 season while the new facilities are built, swimmers will be able to enjoy an enhanced pool experience when the complex reopens in the latter part of 2008.

The regional complex will include a renovated Olympic Pool a 25- metre heated pool incorporating a diving pool, a hydrotherapy pool, a children’s leisure pool, and a learn to swim pool. The water slide will remain in place. When it is completed the complex will be among the best in country NSW. The multi-deck car park will create more parking in the Murwillumbah business district. The estimated cost of the project is $12.6m dollars.
