Homegrown
Film Works
Local screen
culture is alive and well in the Tweed Shire, and there is now very strong
interest in developing film industry skills, especially amongst the Youth
community. The proximity to training facilities, large Commercial Studios on the
Gold Coast, as well as on-location-filming in the region fuels this interest and
enthusiasm.
Tweed Shire Council and partners aim to develop an exciting, innovative and
accessible film project as part of the Tweed Shire City of the Arts 2003 - 2005
program of cultural activities.
The Homegrown Filmworks Project is not another Short Film Festival, it's a
project designed to nurture the creative talents of local and emerging
scriptwriters. By providing budget, technical resources and professional
assistance, this innovative project will finance and produce a number of short
films over the next two years.
Participants will be invited to submit plots, outlines, scripts or screenplay
ideas for Panel Assesment. Winning proposals/concepts will then have the
opportunity to bring their ideas to life and onto the screen. The two-year
program will be implemented via a staged and progressive process designed to
gernerate and maximise shire wide participation.
Project Partners:
