Big hART

Impressed by this award winning company’s philosophical approach and success in other regional centres, Council invited Big hART’s community development coordinator, Kim McConville, to visit the Tweed in mid 2002. Big hART’s programs, which aim to address issues of isolation by youth experiencing marginalisation, were discussed in a planning session, convened with 16 regional organisations attending. An interim Steering Committee was established to drive the project to the next step. Discussions concerning possible partnerships to support the lengthy project are currently taking place between Tweed Shire Council, Gold Coast City Council and the Crime Prevention Strategy.

Award winning Big hART will facilitate a community development project focusing on issues of isolation experienced by youth. Young people will be engaged in skills development, narrative, camera use, sound recordings and animation.
