DisAbility Arts Project
Council's Cultural Policy and Social Plan recognise that access to the arts and cultural activities plays a significant role in building a creative and healthy community.
To initiate meaningful participation in the arts by members of our disAbility community, nationally acclaimed Accessible Arts will assist Council to initiate a two-year community development program, exploring the culture of difference.
The three phases of the project will bring together arts industry professionals, regional service providers and the disAbility community to explore and expand the boundaries of difference and creative possibilities.
The project will be launched as part of Tweed’s International Day of People with a Disability celebrations via a two-day seminar program on December 3 and 4 2003. A signature City of the Arts event, the two-day seminar will attract delegates from across the region and set the foundations for implementing the two-year program of arts activities.

Project Partners: NSW Ministry for the Arts, Tweed Clubs via Community Development Support Expenditure (CDSE), Tweed Shire Council Community Services Division, Tweed Valley Respite Service Inc, Tweed River Valley Fellowship, NICAN, Tweed Shire Community Options, Accessible Arts and members of Tweed Shire Council's DisAbility Access Committee.
