Composting and Worm Farms
What you don't eat, your garden will.
Learn how to get the most out of composting with our practical guides on composting and worm farms.
Composting reduces the amount of rubbish we throw away, decreases our need for landfill sites and provides a chemical-free fertilizer for our gardens.
Composting your green waste and food scraps makes good environmental sense. Not only do they help to fight global warming by reducing the amount of greenhouse gas emissions that are produced when green waste rots in the landfill, but you also improve your soil health which reduces the need for watering and fertiliser / pesticide application.
Worm farming is a great way to compost food scraps. Worms are wonderful creatures – they will eat most of your kitchen waste and turn it into a high-quality fertliser which can be added to your garden soil and your potted or indoor plants.
Why not set up a compost bin and worm farm this weekend. It’s a great activity for the whole family.
Discounted compost bins and worm farms are available from the Tweed Heads office (Brett Street) and the Murwillumbah office (Tumbulgum Road).
The 200 litre compost bins cost $45.00 (retail > $50) and the worm farms are $55.00 (retail > $60).
For more information on composting or worm farming phone (02) 6670 2694.
Note: The compost bin is 80cm high and 85 cm wide at the base (diagonal measurement). It may not fit into some cars (for transporting home).
