Water and Sewage - Tweed Shire Council

The NSW State Government has delegated to Local Government the responsibility for provision of water supply, sewerage and drainage services for NSW country towns. The statutory framework for provision of these services by Councils is provided by the Local Government Act 1993.

The Tweed Shire Council Water Unit, part of the Community and Natural Resources Division strives to meet these responsibilities through a strategic framework of integrated water cycle management, demand management, user pays water pricing and long term activity management plans for capital works and maintenance.

The Water Unit’s goal is to provide high quality and reliable services that meets community expectations and assist economic development. Council acknowledges ecological sustainability and caring for the environment as intrinsic components of community expectations and statutory obligations.
