Council’s Water Saving (Demand Management) Strategy has a range of community education programs on offer, to achieve a permanent reduction in water use.

These community education programs include a rebate for water saving devices and Council is conducting a short public opinion poll to get feedback about the rebate. Please visit the Water Saving Rebate Survey page to complete the survey. Council is interested to know what you think about it and if you have any suggestions. Your answers will be used to help design future programs for the community.

All of your answers will remain anonymous.

We would be grateful if you could take a few minutes to fill out our mini survey by Thursday 31 May 2012.

Water Savings ... it all adds up for you and the environment
Tap into Council’s Water Saving Rebate!

From 1 July 2011 until 30 June 2012 Tweed Shire Council is offering a Water Saving Rebate to households connected to the town water supply. If you are a home owner/occupier or landlord, this is your opportunity to save money and the environment by saving water.

The rebate is for water efficient showerheads and/or tap aerators and/or replacement spouts fitted with aerators plus associated installation costs.

How does the rebate work?

The rebate is 50 per cent of the combined cost of the showerhead/s and/or aerators and/or replacement spouts and/or associated installation costs up to a maximum rebate of $70. The showerhead/s must be at least 3-star WELS rated, the aerator/s must be at least 3-star WELS rated and the replacement spout/s must be at least 4-star WELS rated. Any combination of showerheads/aerators/spouts is eligible for the rebate but you can only claim one rebate per household. You can claim for a maximum of two (2) of any individual product.

To be eligible for the rebate you must:

  • Be a residential town water customer of Tweed Shire Council. The applicant must be the owner or authorised managing agent of the property where the products are installed.

  • Agree to refund the rebate received if you remove, return or exchange any of the water saving products within 12 months.
  • Agree to allow Tweed Shire Council to audit the premises to verify that the new showerheads, aerators and/or spouts have been installed satisfactorily.
