Les Burger Field (Bogangar Rugby League Grounds) Recycled Water Project
Les Burger Field has been identified in the Recycled Water Opportunities Report as one site where the use of recycled water could be appropriate.
Les Burger Field has been operating an irrigation system with potable water for approximately 10 years and by substituting recycled water at the ground, the water savings will be the equivalent to supplying water to 230 new homes (240kl/property per annum). The proposal consists of the upgrading of the existing irrigation system and the construction of the subsidiary recycled water rising main, booster pump and recycled water storage tank adjacent to the main playing field. The water will then be used on the field as required.
Council has undertaken a community consultation program as part of the requirements of the development approval process for this project. An information stand was established at the Les Burger Field Clubhouse and canteen from 23 April to 16 May 2009 and was attended by Council Officers on 9 May (3pm – 5pm) and 16 May (9-11am). The results of the consultation are contained in the Community Consultation Report of May 2009.
The Development Application was submitted in May 2009 and is currently being considered for approval of the development. Additional approvals from other government departments will be required under Section 60 of the Local Government Act before construction can begin.
