Council Operations
Tweed Shire Council is committed to reducing the environmental footprint of its operations.
This commitment is delivered, in part, by Council's Environmental Management System (EMS) which sets a framework for identifying, prioritising and managing environmental risks in the workplace.
The EMS is also a cornerstone of Council's own greenhouse gas reduction initiatives, which include:
- Actions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the vehicle fleet;
- Actions to improve energy and water efficiency of infrastructure; and
- Actions to improve green procurement and waste avoidance throughout the organisation.
The over-arching principle of Council's environmental commitment is continual improvement and an acknowledgment that things can always be done better regardless of past performance.
