Chinderah Foreshore Upgrade
Council is upgrading the intersection of Chinderah Bay Drive and Wommin Bay Road in Chinderah – realigning the roads and installing a roundabout – to improve traffic safety.
This road upgrade will be the first step in a multi-stage Chinderah Foreshore Upgrade.
The intersection is a road accident 'black spot' and Council received $185,000 in funding from the NSW Roads and Traffic Authority (RTA) to create the roundabout.
There have been six casualty crashes at the intersection during the past five years. The most serious have involved vehicles turning right into Wommin Bay Road and colliding with traffic travelling straight along Chinderah Bay Drive.
Council subsequently designed a roundabout to be constructed at the site of the existing intersection.
