Structure of the Rate
Ordinary Rates
Section 497 of the Local Government Act 1993 provides the method of the structure of the rate. Council has considered the methods and has decided on the structure of the rates being an ad valorem rate subject to a minimum for all properties categorised, Residential, Business or Farming, this is known as the Ordinary Rate or General rate. All land is subject to an Ordinary Rate (except for some exemptions allowed under the Act). The type of Ordinary Rate depends on the property category.
Sewerage Charge
Applies to all land that is within 75 metres of a sewerage main and able to be connected (whether connected or not).
Water Charge
Applies to all land that is within 225 metres of a water main and able to be connected (whether connected or not).
Uki Sewerage Charge
Applies to all land that is within 75 Metres of the Uki Sewerage Scheme and able to be connected (whether connected or not).
Burringbar – Mooball Special Sewer Charge
Applies to all land within the villages of Burringbar and Mooball.
Dobbys Crescent – Special Sewer Charge
Applies to all land surrounding Dobbys Crescent.
Special Rate - Tweed Streetscape
Applies to all land that benefits or will benefit from the streetscaping improvements.
Special Rate - Koala Beach
Applies to all land within the Koala Beach Estate.
