Tweed Council’s Online Property Enquiry Tool
ePlanning – The Way of the Future
Tweed Council has commenced an exciting and important project with the aims of becoming a leader in the use of “ePlanning” practices and providing its residents and businesses with more efficient and customer-focused development assessment processes.
“ePlanning” is all about utilising web based systems and electronic functions to replace many of the manual, paper-based actions we currently use for development assessment, including the lodgement, notification, internal and external referral of information and determination of development applications.
There are growing pressures on local councils to utilise the technology currently available for on-line lodgement and determination of development applications.
The full implementation of “ePlanning” will involve a major learning curve and cultural change for both Council staff, local businesses and citizens, and will take several years to complete.
Council is therefore introducing “ePlanning” in a gradual fashion, commencing with the initial launch of improved web site information in June 2009, and the more recent launch of the following services in August 2009:
Property Enquiry
This enquiry function enables the public to gain information on the basic site and mapping information applying to all land parcels throughout the Tweed Shire, with linkages to more detailed mapping and application information. Mapping of the main planning and development constraints applying to individual land parcels is an essential tool for understanding the development potential of a property. Council’s much improved mapping system provides you with an extensive range of layers, including zoning, flooding, bushfire hazards, sensitive coastal areas, and acid sulphate soils.
