The Tweed has an active media scene, with an unusually large range of print publications. The border can present problems in terms of getting Council’s message across through broadcast media, as many produce both Gold Coast and North coast editions and not everyone watches the same service, depending on where they live.

Print

Tweed Shire Council produces its own weekly newspaper to keep residents informed - for more information see the Tweed Link.
Tweed Daily News (two editions - Daily News Community edition distributed free on Wednesdays, paid Daily News publishes on Saturdays)
Gold Coast Bulletin (paid, six days a week)
Tweed Valley Weekly (free, published on Thursdays)
Echonetdaily (online daily)

Radio

There are many radio stations which cover the Tweed, although not all will be picked up in all areas. As the Tweed is adjacent to the Gold Coast, residents have the opportunity to listen to Gold Coast radio stations.

ABC Radio - North Coast - FM 94.5; AM 720
ABC Radio Gold Coast - FM 91.7
Radio 97 Tweed Coast
88.00 FM Big Country Radio

Gold Coast commercial stations include:
102.9 Hot Tomato Radio
92.5 Gold FM
90.9 Sea FM

Community radio stations:
4CRB Radio - 89.3FM

Television

The television scene in the Tweed is complicated by the proximity to the border, differing time zones in summer and the Tweed’s geography. Many people in the north of the Shire receive Queensland stations because of the line of sight to the nearest TV tower, while those in Murwillumbah , the villages and most of the Tweed Coast receive northern NSW TV. There is no TV station solely based in the Tweed.

NBN TV – based at Surfers Paradise and Lismore
Prime TV – based in Lismore
Channel 7 - based on the Gold Coast
Channel 9 - Gold Coast – based in Surfers Paradise
