The Tweed's population is expected to grow to about 120,000 people by 2031. This will create a demand for approximately 16,000 houses and approximately 10,000 units depending on household size.
It will create a demand for approximately 1,350 ha of urban land (Source Tweed Urban and Employment Land Release Strategy 2009)
There are several major developments that have commenced the planning process which will assist in catering for the Tweed's expected population.
A brief description of these developments is now provided given the scale and importance of these developments to the Tweed Shire.
This information is also intended to assist with the community’s understanding of the complex range of approvals required to advance the construction of these new developments.
